The magic of goodbye

by | Mar 21, 2025

Last week, I flew to LA to say goodbye to The Crystal Palace, my home for the past decade. It was a space I created to heal after my divorce, a place that became a sanctuary of love, joy, beauty, and growth. Every time I walked through that door, I felt welcomed and alive.

But this time was different. As I stepped inside, I realized it no longer felt like home. My heart had fully committed to my new life in the Berkshires.

Over the next few days of packing, donating, and letting go, I saw the apartment’s glow start to fade. Not just because the art was taken down or the crystals were gone, but because our connection had changed.

It reminded me of when Flywheel, my favorite spin studio, suddenly closed. The space that once buzzed with energy felt heavy and broken. The air conditioning stopped working, bikes broke down, and the podium started to fall apart. It was like the space itself was grieving.

Love and attention are magic – real, palpable magic. They infuse a space with life, and when that love moves on, the space feels it too.

Before I left the Crystal Palace for the last time, I whispered a blessing, wishing her and her new owner a beautiful, supportive connection. Because yes, spaces are alive. They hold our energy, amplify it, and reflect it back to us. It’s a flow, a relationship, one we create and nurture.

As I write this, I’m about to fly back to my home in the Berkshires, knowing I’m landing in a space that now fully holds my heart.

There really is no place like home – because home is where love lives.

Love + Magic,
Amber
