Reset ritual

by | Aug 2, 2024

We know that change is inevitable. Every day brings shifts—sometimes big, sometimes small, easy or hard, delightful or not so much.

I often think of these shifts as transitions and create rituals to keep me in flow. Rituals acknowledge the transition and clear my energy from whatever has occurred so I may be present as I move into my next adventure.

There’s a brook with a small waterfall at the end of my driveway, and I’ve developed a practice of walking barefoot and sitting with the brook, often with my feet in the icy cold water (think cryotherapy in the country). Simply doing this clears my energy. It always feels good!

I often do a check-in with myself to see if there’s anything I’m holding onto from my day that no longer needs to be held. If there is, I release it into the flowing stream of water, asking that whatever is no longer needed be dissolved.

For me, it’s a full reset. Easy peasy.

Often, M picks me up as he returns from the studio, and together we go and pick blueberries down the road. We pick and we taste, and we unpack and digest our day together. Creating an intentional transition into our evening, we share our needs and wants.

Clear, connected, present—and what’s better than that? Especially for someone who loves blueberries.

Love + Magic,
