Peel + Stick

by | Aug 30, 2024

One of my mantras is, Let it be easy, with the key word being let.

Why? Because I know that when I feel the need to control things (aka decide that I know best) the natural flow of life is interrupted, and things tend to become less easy…

The sun rises each morning and sets each evening, uninterrupted, without question.

I believe there is divine timing and order in this thing we call life. The less I try to control it, the easier it becomes. Hence my mantra and how I found myself gratefully laughing at myself earlier this week.

Two days ago, I was standing in the powder room of my new workspace, gazing upon this not for me wallpaper. Not wanting to delay the other projects in progress – Hello water heater – I asked my contractor if we could just prime and paint over it.

He looked at me with a glimmer in his eye and said, Yes, but you won’t love it. But what if there was a really easy way that you would love?

Let’s find a seam, he said. Immediately, my energy shifted, and I thought to myself, Yes, Valentyne, there are a gazillion things you want done, but settling is not your thing.

I found the nearest seam and had my first peel-and-stick wallpaper experience. Five minutes later, the walls were white, with zero dancing gazelles left to be seen.
I looked at Marty, my contractor, and said, Keep having your way with me. This is not only easy, but fun.

I left with a new bounce in my step.
We all have areas in life that come easily and others that challenge us, with a spectrum in between. Plot twists are real, and the unexpected can feel daunting.

This was particularly true for me this week. But since the peel-and-stick revelation, I remind myself that whatever I believe to be true about a challenge, there’s a way that I just haven’t discovered yet.

So, I ask (both myself and the Universe), How can I allow this to be really easy?

Love + Magic,

Amber
