Dogs don’t lie

by | Dec 6, 2024

Thanksgiving was wonderful this year.
My daughter came to visit with her two dogs.
We had our first snowfall.
And I got to see one of my favorite principles in action,

Energy never lies.

To this I will add, nor do dogs.

I’ve always said that when dogs (or children for that matter) are ill behaved, it isn’t their fault.
It’s their parents who need to be trained.

J’s dogs are loving, sweet and very well behaved. And they quickly caught on to who was the softy in our household.

When it was time to wind down and head to bed, Finn would pick up his favorite plushie and drop it straight into M’s lap. M would toss it for him, before he even realized what was happening. Finn would fetch and run right back to M. Not once did Finn consider bringing it to his mother or myself, because he knew he wouldn’t get a response.

The three of us sat and chuckled at the real life demonstration of these beloved dogs reading our energy.
It’s stimulated some great conversations and a lot of giggles.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving, when things were pretty much calm and bright in our household, and a guest walked through the door in a bad mood showing his current dislike of dogs, news to all of us. Finn and Remus immediately became upset and began barking, all while separated by 25 feet of physical space.

During their week-long visit, this was the only time they behaved this way.

After dessert was enjoyed and the guests had left, with the dogs snuggled in their beds, the three of us cleaned the kitchen, and digested our experience. Some patterns and energy that this person brought into our home were brought to light – patterns I was just observing, because they’re new to me, and patterns that my partner realized needed to be addressed with his friend.

Another one of my favorite truths,

Out of every challenge comes good.

And if you don’t trust yourself or you simply want confirmation on how you’re reading (and perhaps vibing) with someone’s energy, get a dog. They’ll always show you what’s true.

Love + Magic,

Amber
